We spent the whole weekend eating!

We watched an SSO concert with my colleague, Mich, Ban and Sooty on Saturday. Concert was average- I hardly understood the Bartok Piano Concerto No. 2, but was rather impressed by the soloist’s crazy technique, and I loved how he is so at ease and somewhat casual on stage (e.g pushing the chair under the piano after he was done); he striked me as someone without airs and who is happy to be himself. The SSO played Dvorak’s 8th Symphony, which is my favorite Dvorak work, so I was quite excited to hear it love. That said, I am getting a bit tired by that symphony
Post concert, we headed to Lau Pa Sat for supper and it was my first time eating there at night. I did not know there were so many extra seats by the road at night, and so much seafood and satay. I am not huge on satay, but that was good!
Yuan Yuan also told us about all the different cuisines in China. I LOVE all the authentic Chinese food so much that I probably could live there.

In return for a small favour, Jason invited us to his place for a home cooked dinner. He made us some garlic bread and teriyaki steak, and we brought some salad from Sumo Salad, and desserts from Fruit Paradise.
The steak was nice and rare, but I have to talk about the bread that Jason made! I am a carb addict and I especially love all sorts of bread…Jason’s bread was chewy and dense, and also crunchy because of the seeds/grains he added! It was so satisfying to chew, but I had to stop myself from having too much because I wanted to save some room for the Fruit Paradise tarts, which we have never tried before.
I was a bit disappointed by the tarts! It was quite nice, but I think there are just too many different fruits/flavoured cream in the tarts, so I got sick of trying to figure out what I was eating. The tart itself was yummy though.
We watched the first segment of the Star Awards post-dinner. I know its a bit cheesy, but it was quite fun recognizing the celebrities from our childhood days. “Aiyoyo lau shi” feels like my childhood friend!
(post-edit: opps, I forgot to mention that Jason is Serene’s husband, if it isn’t obvious from above pictures that it was a double date. I think Jason=Serene to me, haha! She is lucky to have a master chef husband!)

My brother’s gf’s parents specially delivered some cupcakes from Plain Vanilla to our place. The cookies and cream one was so delightful at first bite and I really wished to stuff it down my mouth, but good things are meant for sharing!
