=Andante Favori in F, WoO 57 by Beethoven (1770-1827)=
Published in 1805 under the name Andante grazioso, this rondo was originally intended as the middle movement of Beethoven’s “Waldstein” Piano Sonata, Op. 53. However, a friend suggested that Op. 53 was already too long- a criticism which Beethoven initially disliked, but eventually accepted. Andante grazioso thus became a standalone work, and was nicknamed “Andante Favori” by Beethoven himself, who once remarked:
“I wish I had never written the piece. I cannot walk down a street without hearing it coming through some window or other.”
The score is marked Andante grazioso con moto (at a moderate walking pace, gracefully and with movement).

Breathed bytes on 19th July 2010. I love music, I love piano- Beethoven’s Andante Favori is among my favourite works. I love pretty purple things, running, coffee, reading, big cities, special people…I love life, so I thought I’d start this to chronicle life’s favourite moments. =D
